Oxo Adverts

The first two ads are from the 1970s and 80s. To what extent do you think they respond to changes in society and in attitudes about the family and women's roles?

And here, at the turn of the century, is the LAST EVER Oxo ad to feature Lynda Bellingham and her Oxo family. Oxo decided at this point that they wanted a newer image which showed the diversity of modern ways of living.

The next ad is a much more recent advert, which tries to modernise the "Oxo family".  Do you think this ad challenges the hegemonic image of the family?

Warning bad pun alert: The OXO Factor!  In the Web 2.0 world Oxo invited 'the public' to make their own adverts (based on Oxo's own script).  Many results can be found on Youtube.  Here's one.  What does this say about familialist ideology?
